Running Guns' self-titled, debut album released February 2010.
"Local four-piece Running Guns’ self-titled full-length is as solid and catchy as you could expect from a young new band coming out of Brisbane. Although it is hard to look past the 1970s British punk inspiration, Running Guns have created a well-constructed album that has a very full and balanced sound. The opening two tracks seem to lack any real direction, but the very Jam-influenced third track, Secret Police (Rad Cool), is where the album really hits its peak. From then on Running Guns rarely take a step backwards. Little Tiger and Otis Redding are without doubt the standout tracks, and it would be hard to see Running Guns having as strong an impact without those two songs. The use of keys rather than bass works really well, with Lauren Jenkins’ constant yet not overbearing organ holding the album together. At some points both the guitars and vocals seem a little sloppy, and maybe should have been worked a little better. Whether or not that would have changed the feel of this album is hard to say. The imperfections most definitely add character to a band that will hopefully be able to throw a little spark into the lollipop sound that saturates the local scene."
